Transmission Control Protocol acceleration. TCP Acceleration is name of techniques for achieving better throughput on an TCP connection than standard TCP connection can achieve, without modifying the end applications. Specifically useful for communication over long latency links (such as links over transponders of geostationary satellites).
A Tier 1 Network provides an IP network (typically, but not necessarily, an Internet Service Provider) which connects to the entire Internet solely via Settlement Free Interconnection, also known as settlement free peering.
