| DHCP server |
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is a protocol used by networked devices (clients) to obtain/provide the parameters necessary for communication in an Internet Protocol network.
A DHCP server manages information about client configuration parameters. Upon receipt of a request the server will assign the computer an IP address and other IP configuration parameters (these devices are DHCP Clients)
