Oslo, Norway, 24th March 2010 - Vizada Networks, a leading integrated satcoms and CIS systems specialist has confirmed its long term commitment to the military communication requirements of its customers through the January 2010 opening of a dedicated defence division. This thorough restructuring of internal resources has been implemented to re-focus Vizada Networks’ already proven defence market capabilities, ensuring that existing and new customers are fully supported by a dedicated, highly-trained and experienced team of defence communications professionals.
“Vizada Networks has been a key supplier of Satcoms and large system integration projects to the defence market for over ten years,” comments Rune Kristiansen, Head of Vizada Networks Defence division. “During this time we have built up an extensive understanding of NATO and other defence organisation requirements, which enables us to act as a strong and stable partner regardless of the theatre of operations. Our foundation of expertise is strengthened through our technical capability and our proven high overall service availability, even under challenging conditions.”
Vizada Networks has a good standing and relationship with NATO, which is reflected by the recent signing of a contract with the NATO Consultation, Command and Control Agency (NC3A) to supply the communications infrastructure for the NATO ‘SILK-Afghanistan’ project. This high profile project is an extension of the NATO Virtual Silk Highway (SILK) project that was initiated in 2002 to provide affordable, high-speed Internet access via satellite in the Caucasus and Central Asian countries. Under SILK Afghanistan, Vizada Networks will extend the connectivity to higher education facilities throughout Afghanistan
Vizada Networks enjoys a strong reputation in the defence market, which has been gained through the company’s ongoing work with national defence agencies, and other organizations such as NATO and EU in all current operational theatres including the Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan, with a variety of large, high-profile CIS projects.
The Vizada Networks dynamic, cross-competent in-house defence division is security cleared and is based in security cleared facilities in Norway, France and Slovakia, as well as other locations throughout Europe. The company is well known within the defence industry and strengthens its position by forming partnerships with other industry and technology leaders. Vizada Networks’ established position combined with the ability to take on turn-key projects at short notice throughout the world, consisting of any number of different solutions and or services ensure that Vizada Networks is a market leader in the defence sector.
“The new Vizada Networks dedicated defence division is a result of our ongoing commitment to a key market segment,” continues Kristiansen. “It takes specialist knowledge and ability to operate in high pressure environments to support defence organizations with solutions and services, especially in the crisis areas of the world today. Our performance in the defence market and operational theatres so far has proven that we can do this and our improved organisation will ensure that we can grow our support for our defence customers and provide an even stronger focus and service going forward.”
